Job Description

CoWorx Staffing is currently hiring a talented Lab Technician for a client of ours in Hudson MA. 

In this role you will manufacture coatings used in the production department. Mix paints and other coatings for use in the coatings process according to formulas, which includes the blending of solid and liquid ingredients. Mixing methods include but are not limited to stirring mixtures with a paddle. Pours pigments, paint paste, vehicle, and thinner into can. Compares mixed liquid with desired color sample to ensure that it matches. May also blend colors to obtain desired shades. Will test specific gravity of mixture, using hydrometer. Will test mixtures for conformance to prescribed standards, using test devices such as pH meter, resistivity meter, titration apparatus, colorimeter, thermometer and viscometer.



•         Mixing coatings according to formula instruction sheets.

•         Maintaining inventory of components required to make formulas

•         Notifying purchasing of needs in a timely fashion

•         Following Engineering’s verbal and written instruction in the manufacturing and testing of new formulas.

•         Manufacturing color concentrates and acid accelerators for use in formulas.

•         Maintaining lot vital logbook for issued coatings and manufactured products

•         Using color match system to make formula adjustments in color

•         Measuring and recording all pertinent information in the manufacturing of components and coating.

•         Retaining documentation in a presentable manner

•         Keeping area in a neat an orderly fashion; no open or unmarked containers.

•         Following safety instructions; wears safety apparel as required.

•         Consistently demonstrates the ability to perform in a semi-independent manner.

•         Maintaining cooperative relationships with other Managers, Supervisors and all Employees.

•         Respecting the confidentiality of the Company, vendor and customer information.

•         Overseeing the water and /or solvent type coating waste “Satellite accumulation areas.”

•         Performing other tasks as assigned.


Job Requirements

•         Must have high school degree or equivalent.

•         May have an associate’s degree from an accredited College in science or engineering or comparable on the job experience.

•         Must have at least 1 year of experience in manufacturing/ fabrication environment.

•         Must have basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

•         Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

•         Must have basic math skills.
